Nigerian home ties are the land paper, the school letter, and CAC still in force
The Certificate of Occupancy is a state document
Under the Land Use Act the governor of the state issues the Certificate of Occupancy. There is no single federal plot certificate that covers every state. Upload the C of O, or a deed of assignment that was registered, in your name or your spouse’s name. A scan of a parent’s paper does not put the land in your ties.
School papers are for children who are not on the flight
Use the current report card and a letter on the school’s letterhead that names you as the parent. If those children are travelling with you, the letters do not show anyone waiting at home.
CAC shows the business. The date shows you have to be back
The CAC certificate and FIRS filings answer whether the business is real. That refusal page is CAC and FIRS after a Nigerian refusal. The tie is a contract, a supply date, or a client deadline after your return, in the same business name as the CAC certificate.
The papers, in Nigerian Pidgin
- CAC — company paper. Corporate Affairs Commission certificate or status report, in the business name on the account.
- FIRS TCC — tax clearance. Tax Clearance Certificate from the Federal Inland Revenue Service, for the years that cover the credits.
- C of O — land paper. Certificate of Occupancy or a registered deed. E suppose get your name. Your papa land no be your tie.
Visitor visa (from outside Canada) — Nigeria: 93 days
On September 22, 2026, IRCC's processing-time tool showed 93 days for Visitor visa (from outside Canada) when the country is Nigeria. The tool updates weekly. 93 days is an estimate, not a date IRCC owes you. Add the biometrics appointment and the time for the passport to come back.
What Canada charges — Nigerian naira on September 28, 2026
IRCC charges Canadian dollars. The NGN column is the ExchangeRate-API mid-market rate on September 28, 2026: ₦974.12 per CAD. A card issuer or a money changer will not use this rate. Confirm the CAD figure on the IRCC fee list.

A first-time applicant who must give biometrics pays CAD $185, about ₦180,212, before any visa-application-centre service charge. Trip funds are a different test. The fee is not the funds.
The test does not change by country
Whether you will leave Canada is IRPR section 179. That rule is the same for every passport. Read the letter, change the file before you pay again, and treat a lump and weak ties as their own pages. This page is only the local paper.

Does family land in Nigeria prove I will return if the Certificate of Occupancy is in a parent’s name?
Only if the title is in your name or your spouse’s name. A parent’s Certificate of Occupancy is not your tie.
If the Nigerian refusal letter says ties rather than funds, where do the CAC certificate and FIRS filings fit?
They show the business exists and reported tax. Pair them with a dated reason you are back at that business. The funds version of those papers is on the Nigeria refusal page.

The letter cites IRPR 179(b) when the officer wasn't satisfied you'll leave Canada. Read the factors under that line before you apply again.
